Who makes kantha quilts and blankets

Meet our Artisans

Rural Indian women artisans who handstitch kantha quilts and blankets with their traditional art. At Kantha Originals, every stitch tells a story—of skill, resilience, and tradition. Our artisans, primarily women from rural India, have inherited the centuries-old Kantha embroidery technique, transforming discarded fabric into beautiful, handcrafted treasures.

For these artisans, Kantha is more than a craft; it is a lifeline. Through their work, they  gain financial independence, and support their families. Many use their earnings to educate their children, improve their homes, and build a brighter future.

By choosing Kantha Originals, you become part of their journey—helping preserve an art form while empowering the artisans, one stitch at a time.

Workday
It takes two -five days for one artisan depending on how many hours a day they work. Most of artisans finish their daily house chores in addition to doing quilting. If two-four ladies sit, they can finish in one day. Sometimes family members join.
